Fishing for the Future

Herring, mackerel, horse mackerel, blue whiting, sardine: each day, our fishermen supply millions of healthy, protein-rich and affordable meals.

A large part of the world population depends on fish as their main source of healthy animal protein. As the world population grows, so does the demand for affordable, high-protein food. Ensuring that this demand for fish can also be met in the future is a major challenge in which scientific research and the responsible management of fish stocks are of great importance.

We are very aware of this responsibility. This is why we closely cooperate with scientists. Cooperation, not only on research on the fishstocks but also on the further innovation of sustainable fishing methods.

The carbon footprint of pelagic fishing is lower than that of many other animal proteins (meat). And where possible, we aim to even further reduce this footprint. This is how we fish “With an eye to the future.”
